Our dedicated team of experienced teachers are dynamic, creative and committed to differentiating learning to cater for all children, ensuring that they set their own goals, learn at their own pace and level and achieve their best results.

The school's remarkable achievements are evident through the outstanding performances of individual students in ICAS Assessments, academic competitions, and representative opportunities such as the Premiers Debating, Public Speaking Challenges and Maths Competitions. These accomplishments highlight our students' exceptional talents, dedication, and the school's commitment to providing valuable opportunities for growth and success.

WELL-ROUNDED DEVELOPMENT

We believe in developing well-rounded individuals. In addition to academic achievement, we offer a wide range of extracurricular activities to support the holistic development of our students. From sports and arts to music and community service, we provide opportunities for students to explore their interests and talents.

Despite being a small school, we take every opportunity to support the talents and interests of our students. Below are just some of the extracurricular activities facilitated by our dedicated team of educators, before or during school:

  • Taekwondo lessons
  • Compete at State and National level Sport Aerobics competitions
  • Dazzle audiences in Star Struck
  • Represent MPS at PSSA sports such as swimming, athletics, cross country, mountain biking, touch football, tennis, netball and more
  • Join our Chess Club
  • Learn to cook
  • Become a member of our Green Team
  • Follow in the footsteps of our 2022 State Debating Champion
  • …and so much more!

SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT

The safety and well-being of our students are of paramount importance to us. We maintain a safe and supportive school environment where every child feels valued, respected, and included. Our dedicated staff members are committed to providing a nurturing atmosphere that promotes positive relationships and social, emotional development.

Merewether Public School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) School, which ensures everyone – students, staff, families and the school community - is on the same page to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

STRONG COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Merewether Public School brings together students from a variety of family backgrounds and dynamics, which offers the benefit of a diverse community. We strongly believe in the power of community, and we foster strong partnerships between students, parents, teachers and the wider community.

We have an active Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) which initiates an array of school activities and events, which not only raise money for the school but also help to create a strong sense of belonging and shared responsibility for the success of our students.
