Welcome from our principal
A message from our Principal
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Merewether Public School, a high-achieving school known for its strong sense of community, inclusive values and unwavering commitment to student success.
We are proud of the warm, supportive environment we provide—one where every child is known, valued and cared for.
At Merewether Public School, our dynamic teaching and learning team brings creativity, expertise and passion to every classroom. Our staff are deeply committed to delivering high-quality, differentiated learning that meets the needs of all students.
We recognise that every child learns at their own pace and in their own way, and we work hard to ensure each student is supported, challenged and encouraged to achieve their personal best.
We are also a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school. PBL is an evidence-based, whole-school approach that helps us create a safe, predictable and positive environment for learning. Through PBL, we:
- Address the diverse academic and social needs of all students
- Provide layers of support that intensify depending on individual needs
- Use data, systems and consistent practices to solve problems collaboratively
- Establish clear, positive expectations for behaviour across our school
- Work together as staff, students, parents and community to support the wellbeing of every child
This approach leads to meaningful and lasting benefits:
- Students respond positively because they know what is expected of them
- Staff deliver consistent and supportive responses to both learning and behaviour
- Students feel safe, connected and confident at school
- Families and the wider community are actively engaged in school life
Positive Behaviour for Learning strengthens every part of our school, helping us create a learning environment where all students can flourish.
I warmly welcome all current and new families to our wonderful school community. Together, we will continue to make Merewether Public School a place of opportunity, belonging and excellence for every child.
